Summer Pub of the Season, The Dog, Peover Heath.
The Dog is classic country pub located just over a mile as the crow flies from Chelford. On a summer’s day you can catch the sun on either the front patio or the extensive rear beer garden that has its own bar.
Although, as you would expect, there a strong focus on dining, this is not to the exclusion of those who just want a drink. The cask ale offerings are usually the Best Bitter & Cheshire Cat from Cheshire brewer Weetwood. This is supplemented by Boltmaker from Timothy Tailor. The food is all freshly prepared and features locally sourced food which is served each day until 8pm.
If you want to stay a little longer there six en-suite dog themed bedrooms upstairs. Breakfast is included in the price.
Unsurprisingly, dogs are welcome at the pub just keep them in the bar area if you come inside.
We presented the Summer 2025 Branch Pub of the Month award on Saturday 14th of June to Kieran & Daniel who look after the cellar along with many other things.
Although the pub is in a very rural area there is an hourly weekday daytime bus service (1 bus a day passes pub) stopping close to the pub at Peover Superior school. (10 minutes walk away). The Saturday service runs every two hours. The bus is the 87 Macclesfield – Knutsford bus (which is a continuation of some 88 Altrincham-Knutsford services)
