Long closed Sam Smiths pub reopens

On the 26 September the Bird in Hand on Knolls Green in Mobberley reopened after being closed since September 2019. The new licensee Hugh Topham (with his wife) is planning to introduce food after being open for about three weeks. The opening day was certainly a success with the pub being packed and subsequently running out of Old Brewery Bitter.

The 18th century pub is worth visiting for the magnificent interior alone, which is divided into four rooms with many original 1930’s fittings. Although the pub has no toilet for the disabled. With the exception of the upper restaurant area, it is all on one level. If the weather is good there are picnic style tables in front of the pub and a few in an enclosed yard to the side.

As most people who visit the pub will go be car, there is a car park to the rear and the side. This however is not the only option, on any day except Sunday, the 88 Altrincham-Wilmslow-Knutsford bus passes the door with the stop close by.
