Treacle Tap Closes (again)

Following on from reopening in December 2023. Macclesfield’s Treacle Tap on Sunderland Street suddenly closed in April 2024 citing; economic uncertainty, higher operating costs and lower footfall as the reasons for closure.
The pub was operated by Axe Edge Bars Ltd which is a subsidiary of the Buxton Brewery.

However, not many days after the closure, it was revealed that Buxton Brewery themselves were facing financial difficulties. They stated in a Facebook post that “looking at all options to secure the future of the business.” We hope they are successful in doing this.

As for the Treacle Tap itself, it will not reopen in its previous form as all the furniture have been gutted from the premises leaving just the bar..
